SOPA / PIPA Blocked

The day LOLCats died. SOPA will end the internet as we know it.

Yesterday, January 17th 2012 I locked my site down, because I felt part of the community of internet users, and more specific bloggers, writers and other free minds. I have locked the site down on January 17th 2012, 18:00PM CET (Central European Time).
As I'm writing this, it's January 18th 2012, 18:00 CET (Central European Time). The time difference East Coast, USA - Central Europe is six hours. So my 24 hours site lock-down ended.

I'll keep the specific blocking page in the archives - published, as a reminder. I have a strong feeling this was only a prelude to things to come.

The internet has grown to a playground of free - thinkers, a force to be reckoned with by governments. As in any community there are people that play by the rules and some that don't. I am not suggesting I never done anything wrong on the internet, like borrowing a picture or downloaded a program of which I should or could have known it was not a legal copy.

The truth - and main reason - for acts like PIPS and SOPA are threats of cyber wars from 'abroad', wherever that may be. A cyberwar can be fought and won by relative small countries. Internet- and computer knowledge is for hire. Investments are small, and there's no nuclear fall-out. Just putting in my 2 cents worth.

SOPA Act must be stopped.

Unhappy SOPA'ing

  2. SOPA / PIPA act is a serious matter. Just showing my support here. I believe passing the act(s) will not only affect America (if and when it does), but spread to Europe where I live.
Thanks for the input. It might help people to think about what could happen when measures like these - SOPA / PIPA would become reality. Freedom of speech is a right. Like here on this little blog of mine.

  3. I watched the beginning of the parody, I think humor is revolutionary and , but I don't have time now. I'll be back later
I don't think that SOPA, funny cause it is "soup" in Portuguese, will ever pass cause many companies of Fortuna 500 have already manifested against it.

  4. Sure, I fear how they will censor us if they are not already doing it in those sophisticated methods they have.
